1. For fresher sailing first time they have to sail an ship having minimum *2000 GRT* from engine side & *500 BHP* from deck side if vessel less than these than seafarer experience will not count.
2. *CDC* is license every seafarer must have without this no one can join any vessel just like driving a four wheeler license is must also working in shipping company CDC is must.
3. With the help of *INDOS* number an seafarer information can get by using unique ID no need to carry original documents.
4. *COC* & *COP* can get after sailing 18 months from deck side & 12 months from engine side this certificate is required for promotion by giving exam for *COC* for *COP* no need of exam company itself provided only in *ITF* company this certificate is not essential for next time joining this helps only in rank promotion.
5. *INDOS* & *CDC* will be provided institute itself after completion of any marine course from DG shipping approved institute if individual want to apply then one can apply in DG shipping official website for CDC *700* & for INDOS no charge.
6. *TAR* Book must carry while joining in ship for first time & give to chief engineer they will filled your record according to your sincerity towards work & before sign off you have to take from chief engineer with his sign on it this will help for issuing watch keeping certificate for second time joining.
7. For *COC* engine cadet have to give exam in *IMEI* & deck cadet in *MMD* both of this are situated in *mumbai* & *delhi*.
8. After first sail seafarer have to issue first *watch keeping* certificate then *COP* & then *COC*.
9. Fresher must joined only in *RPSL* company to avoid any difficulties while sailing & salary food related issues since *RPSL* company is approved from DG shipping in that company nothing this type of issues happen.

13. Around the world Indian CDC is prefer best among all other countries CDC so fresher must apply only for Indian CDC only.
14. As per current scenario in shipping line there is no vacancy for *GP rating course* & *Btech marine* currently shipping company recruiting only for *DNS* & *GME* candidates.
15. For sailing in tankers ship seafarer must have *GTFC, OTFC & CTFC* certificates for sailing in *Gas, oil & chemical* vessels respectively.
16. *Highest salary* in merchant navy in *tanker vessels* only since in that vessel risk is more after that container vessel then commercial vessel than tug boat.
17. *Mooring* operation is done when ship reaches to port than ship engine will be stop then pilot comes in another ship from port they will park to the port.
18. If anyone wants to join *oil rigs* they can join after one sail of merchant navy there are more money in oil rigs than merchant navy but in oil rigs risk is also high.
19. If seafarer join ship after doing *GME* course they will be positioned as junior engineer then after first sail by clearing watch keeping they will appoint as third engineer then after giving mate exam in next sail they will appoint as second engineer then in next sail by clearing *COC* exam they will appoint as chief engineer then in next sail by clearing mate exam they will finally appoint as *captain*.
20. An seafarer can sail 6-9 months or more than that depends on seafarer if they wish contract can be extend during sailing without sign off.
21. If any serious personal emergency seafarer can sign off from ship when ship reaches nearer to port.
22. If seafarer wants to buy goods from port then they can take money from captain he will deduct that money from your salary.
23. If any emergency in ship then every seafarer has to come to on board also if their duty is over generally on ship *8-10* hours duty will be there if any extra work for that *over time* extra money will be paid.
24. Food is totally free in ship an seafarer can eat many times as they can wish anytime & for haircutting or beard shape seafarer have to do itself or visit foreign saloon when ship reaches to port this facility would not be provided on ship.
25. Sunday generally is holiday on ship in mega *ITF* company not every companies in sunday safety related training provided on ship by lower down small ship in sea all seafarer sail on it & other trainings are practicing to perform in case when fire caught in engine section.
26. In *cattle ship* all animals are imported & in *RO-RO* ships all automobile vehicles are imported & in *STS* vessels are transporting oils to another small ship or directly to port.
27. There are many disadvantages in merchant navy like weather can be change anytime in sea that time rolling & pitching of ship happen s also you have to see only number of people faces in your contract period also there is no rest in ship if any emergency alarm rings you have to report even if you sleeping also you have to stay away with your family & loved ones for particular period.
